In 1985, the Miami Hurricanes won a national championship with a baseball team that would have zero players make it to the major leagues. Led by coach Ron Fraser, better known in college baseball as “The Wizard,” they were a team of destiny and chemistry, earning the nickname “The Happiest Team in America.” After coming out of the loser’s bracket in the College World Series, they won three straight 1-run games against Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Texas, then had to beat the favored Longhorns a second straight time to clinch their second national title in school history.
